My Story, My Art

RK new.jpg

I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, where I first discovered the joy of drawing as a child—often sketching in class instead of listening to the teacher. Art became my first language of expression, long before I could articulate what I was feeling or experiencing. When I was twelve, my family moved to the U.S., settling in Newark, New Jersey. Amid the uncertainty of a new country and culture, I found comfort in the familiarity of paint and canvas.

Though I studied Biology and earned an MBA, art remained the constant thread in my life. It wasn’t until later—during the stillness of the COVID-19 pandemic—that I fully embraced it, earning my MFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design. That choice was more than a career pivot—it was a return to my true self.

Today, my art is much more than a creative pursuit; it’s a visual language for the emotions, stories, and spiritual threads that connect us as human beings. Each brushstroke reflects not only my own journey—of immigration, resilience, loss, and rediscovery—but the shared dreams, struggles, and triumphs we all carry.

My work is deeply emotional and quietly spiritual, aiming to reflect the quiet strength, hope, and joy of the human spirit. I listen closely—not just to the spoken needs of those around me, but to the unspoken, often unseen feelings that art can help bring to the surface. Whether through the meditative calm of a landscape or the vibrant pulse of abstract color, I want every piece I create to offer something meaningful: healing, introspection, connection.

Driven by this vision, I founded Rossi Kelton Fine Art Gallery, a space to not only share my own story, but to help other artists tell theirs. I believe art has the power to uplift, to transform, and to create real impact in the world.

That belief is personal. After losing my beloved husband to cancer, I committed to donating a portion of each sale to cancer research—so every painting doesn't just bring beauty into a space, but also carries purpose and hope.

My dedication to creating positive change extends to the planet as well. I use only non-toxic, eco-friendly materials in all my work—from flaxseed oil in my oils to earth-safe pigments in my acrylics. Even my frames and canvases are sustainably sourced and fully recyclable. My process reflects my values: compassion, consciousness, and care for future generations.

In every piece, I strive to honor the stories that shape us, the emotions that bind us, and the world we all share.
